powis_castleRhos y Gallt Caravan and Campsite is located in Mid Wales and is 6 miles west of Llanfair Caereinion on the A458. It is ideally located to explore the Mid Wales countryside and the coast is located an hour's drive away.

The area has an abundance of public footpaths and a network of narrow quiet country lanes ideal for walking or cycling. You could take the one mile walk through the fields and cross the river Banwy over a wooden footbridge arriving at  Cann Office - a  traditional country pub which serves home made food and real ales. 100 yards further on is the village shop and vintage tea room “Cwpan Pinc” which offers homemade breakfasts, lunches, teas and snacks as well as supplying your daily paper and essential goods.

The beautiful Glyndwr’s Way passes nearby which is a 135 mile National Trail long distance walk which takes you to some of the most stunning landscapes in Wales. Other local walks include the Ann Griffiths walk which is named after an 18th century hymn writer who took her inspiration from the beautiful local landscapes or enjoy  a river side walk in Deri Woods in the neighboring village of  Llanfair Caereinion.

A few minutes drive will take you to the Rainbow Trails in Dyfnant forest. The Trails consist of five horse riding trails for all abilities ranging from the novice route, the Banw Trot (5 miles) to Cerrig yr Helfa  (16 miles) for the more experienced rider. All the Rainbow Trails are clearly marked and offer excellent scenery in a peaceful environment.

Lake Vyrnwy is set amidst the remote and beautiful Berwyn Mountains, and is situated just on the edge of the Snowdonia National park. This 24,000 acre RSPB reserve has walks and trails that will bring you to spectacular waterfalls and unspoilt countryside. Enjoy the amazing variety of birds, scenery and visionary sculpture park or hire a boat or bicycle.

The market town of Welshpool is only a 20 minute drive away and has it's market day every Monday, also localed in Welshpool os the Powysland museum, Powis Castle, Montgomery canal and the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Raiway and the Flash leisure center (swimming pool, crazy golf, indoor bowls).

Private fishing is available on our own river approximately 400 meters from the caravan and campsite. Red Kites are often seen circulating overhead!

There is a play park located in the village, and the local pub which offers excellent home made food is located 3 miles away.
